joe left for Afghanistan last july, just as we left for the 2nd annual Brown family vacation in destin, florida. exactly six months later, he and 300 soldiers returned to dyess AFB. sadly, we didn't make it to the homecoming event on friday night. but, i'm so very excited for sarah and joe to be reunited!
we all made it into town by saturday afternoon to celebrate at the stuteville's. josh was planning to drop the baby news after dinner, but got excited and decided to confess as soon as everyone arrived. so we gathered the gals for a photo and with a trembling hand josh said, "say erica's pregnant" instead of "say cheese". the reaction was great...a little delayed, but it was perfect. it was followed by many squeals, tears and hugs for the 1st Brown/Yarger grand baby (or grand cousin as Meg says).
after a fabulous dinner and several toasts, joe gave us the slideshow of pics from his tour. lots of the b1 in flight, desolate sand dunes, running missions, supporting British forces, he and wyatt's chance meeting, peaks of the Himalayans and their rough living quarters (wyatt would probably insist they were 4 star in comparison).
i'm so proud, grateful, honored and indebted to the service men and women who sacrifice their lives everyday to protect our freedom. much love and a special thank you to our Brown family heros!! anxiously awaiting wyatt's return this summer...

LOVE the post! I'm so excited about your blog! Thanks so much for the picture and the shout out! Things are great here. Sleep schedules are a little thrown off though! Can't wait for all the updates on the baby!
Uncle Tom asked me where you were this week-end. He wanted Josh to help him and Dave move the organ out of the guest room so that we can put a baby bed in there. I mentioned I wanted to get a puppy and he suggested we go buy the baby bed. lol!!!!
love,
D
