business as usual this morning (drew eating breakfast, mommy getting callie dressed, etc) when josh ran into the kitchen to turn on the live Veterans Day broadcast of ESPN’s sportscenter from Grafenwöhr Training Center in Germany.
they started the ceremonious event with the German national anthem (Das Deutschlandlied) and then played The Star-Spangled Banner. i was bustling around the kitchen with a few tears welling up (as usual during Our national anthem), when i looked over and saw a very serious little boy saluting the heroes of our country just like the soldiers he was seeing on tv.
it broke my heart and made me so proud.
Honor and gratitude for all who served.
Courage and godspeed to those still serving.

Oh My goodness, that is most awesome. Our family has always been so very proud to be American. Drew and Callie are learning only what they see around them. What a fabulous picture. Love to Sarge, Joe, Scott, Papa, and Grandpa Hoogendoorn and many thanks for your bravery and patriotism. mimi/peepa
