her midnight snack…

was followed by my midnight (almost) heart attack!

{ mom always said, “don’t sweat the small stuff” and over the years, i’ve felt pretty proficient in my ability to apply the concept. that is, until i became a mom. i know i’m not alone, but when it comes to my babies my OCD has multiplied exponentially. so much so, now I sweat the small, medium and large stuff }

little miss is just a few days shy of NINE months, finally showing an interest in crawling and still waking to eat at 2 or 3am EVERY night!

last night, she finished her bottle and fell back to sleep, business as usual. i layed her down and went back to bed for my second half nap. occasionally she’ll wake up and talk a bit, but only for a few minutes. last night she was particularly vocal and persistent. so after 15 minutes of non-stop chatter, i went to check on her…and as soon i opened the door, my blood pressure went through the roof.

she’d pulled herself to STANDING for the first time EVER in her crib, which hadn’t been moved down yet, since she hadn’t EVER pulled herself to standing! the rail of her crib was about waist height, which would have been just perfect for a tumble had she bent over in the slightest. instinctually, i even pulled out mom’s favorite “i-mean-business-this-time” signal and called her by her full name, “callie jane yarger…”

well, obviously she didn’t fall. but it was a free pass to spend the rest of the evening in our bed. because waking josh to move the mattress down at 2am wasn’t in my realm of thinking in a panicked stupor. and having her in my bed was likely the only way to lower my blood pressure enough to attempt a return to slumber.

tonight josh moved the crib down, she took her bottle and went to bed, again business as usual. not 15 minutes later, she’s all a chatter as we’re trying to get drew ready for bed. we walked in to find her standing up, ready for round two…which was the perfect opportunity for a photo shoot!

crawling AND cruising all in one week…yikes!

again, i find myself desperately seeking courage.
