troop bentonville...

patches? we don't need no stinkin patches.

well, maybe i do need to revisit the skills required for the emergency preparedness patch?
this morning before i left for a "quick" afternoon meeting in bentonville, arkansas (land o' wal-mart), i actually did check the weather and saw arkansas and texas were expecting very cold temperatures and a chance of snow. without a second thought, i grabbed my purse, computer, coat and gloves and left for the aiport.

by mid-afternoon dallas was getting hammered with rain, sleet and snow. we were oblivious in northwest arkansas, the sony office actually closed at 1:30pm and shortly thereafter all of josh's pharmacies shut down for the evening. half way through our afternoon mtg, we found out our 6:05pm flight had been cancelled (mind you, this is the LAST flight out of wally world).
turns out, the 2 o'clock and 3 o'clock flights had also been cancelled. so there was no chance of jumping on an earlier flight. we thought about driving back, but the conditions were not favorable for the four of us traveling together to pack into our economy-size rental car and brave the roads...we were official stranded in arkansas.

luckly, we were able to get hotel rooms. but i had NOTHING. you don't realize how dependant you are, until you're left with nothing. no toothbrush, face wash, shampoo, eye glasses, contact solution and that just what i needed before bed. what about clothes for tomorrow...uh, makeup, hair brush...and the list goes on and on. so, we raided the closest wal-mart and then hit up dillards for a change of clothes.

i've always considered myself pretty low-maintenance. that is until i realized all that stuff i required for just one night's sleep...

live and learn they say -- well, i will certainly never be this unprepared for a "quick" afternoon trip out of town.

i enjoyed girl scouts back in the day, but i certainly disappointed my troop leader today.

ps. dillards is having a great sale!!
pss. we didn't get an drop of rain or snow in bentonville. the picture is from wfaa.com taken in the fort worth area.
