i’m an american girl thru and thru, and didn’t realize how much so until we flew delta this past weekend. our vacation was great, but the travel to and fro was horrible.
i should have known and lowered my expectations when delta cancelled our return flight with no notice three weeks prior to departure. our original flight was scheduled to return to dallas thru atlanta early sunday afternoon, so we’d have the evening to regroup. they automatically rebooked us on a flight returning at 10pm?! after several customer service calls, i found another flight connecting through detroit returning about the same time. done.
well, not so fast. we were flying into florence, sc and now departing from myrtle beach, sc, so the car rental became an issue. the rental rate doubled! ridiculous, ugh…done.
traveling with an infant is no cake walk -- we had drew’s pack-n-play, car seat, stroller and two pieces of luggage. so we decided curb-side check-in would be the way to go...easy enough, right?! after unloading all of our gear, they said we couldn’t check-in curb-side because THEY changed our itinerary. so we managed to get everything upstairs, only to wait in two ticket lines before we found an agent that could assist us with their issue. thirty minutes and $40 later (for two pieces of luggage) with 20 minutes prior to departure, we finally get thru security and head to the gate. sand, surf and sunshine…hear we come!
i’m sure you’re bored with my delta sob story by now…i am, and i am getting all agitated again. our return flights were just as ridiculous and complicated, with no apologies from any agent.
moral of the story: i’ll drive across the country before flying delta again. AA or bust!!
pictures of our weekend still to come!
