because most of my other posts are about adventures with the little ones, i’m going to try and keep this a kid-free zone. we’ll see how well that works out. and it was especially difficult not to dedicate this week’s five for friday post to callie jane, since she turned 5 months yesterday. but then i remembered she’s already getting 25 blog posts this month, so it’s probably okay!
but anyway, i went to dallas this week for a few work meetings and actually got to enjoy some of my old school favorites on the ipod. it’s amazing how music makes you time travel. just like kenny says, “we all have a song that some how stamped our lives, takes us to another place and time.”
so here, i go back, to share memories associated with five very random songs. some illicit smiles or giggles and even some tears, but regardless i can still listen to each over and over and over and over.
time to say goodbye, andrea bochelli: dining al fresco at olives or standing on the street in front of those beautiful dancing fountains at the bellagio. all the other memories stayed in vegas!
angel eyes, jeff healy band: we wore this one out driving from lubbock to abilene and vice versa back in the day!
say it ain’t so, weezer: ask josh to sing this one for you. did you know he was the lead singer in a band? this was one of their best cover tunes!
the funeral, band of horses: way before i had shazam, i was in a bar in kansas city desperately trying to figure out who sang this song. eventually, the bartender accepted cash in exchange for their mixed cd that had the song on it!
meant to be, sammy kershaw: i’ve been known to abuse the phrase, “everything happens for a reason.” but i truly believe it. call it fate, call it destiny…we were just sitting next to each other at a freakin’ hockey game…we were meant to be!
