september means the return of high school football and the WEST TEXAS FAIR AND RODEO.
crisp fall air, aggie fries, brisket tacos, petting zoo, live music and a bonus pharmacy break-in.
eh?!
one of the local (been around forever) independent pharmacies said that like rain, it’s almost predictable that the local drug stores will be robbery victims while the WTF&R is in town. maybe the police will find the junky(s), maybe they won’t, but it’s an interesting and disturbing coincidence that ty’s and mccoy’s were hit in the two week stint. think it’s the crazy carnies or the walking-wounded rodeos?
regardless, we went both weekends to the ever popular “unsafe carnival”, enjoyed the livestock show, indulged in the treats and watched a little rodeo action, all while scanning the crowd for any battered and bandaged.
last year, drew loved the rodeo but was less than interested in even the smallest kiddy train ride. so it was shocking and exciting to see mr skeptic turned adventurous in the midway, riding almost everything by himself with absolutely no hesitation.
all the while, miss callie jane smiled, waved and moo’ed at the cattle. and then looked around the midway with extreme envy. there is always next year, my brash and beautiful princess.

i am glad to see him in the driver's seat.
Nothing like the West Texas Fair for making memories and having fun!!
How fun! The carneys are definitely questionable, but the memories are priceless! And the aggie fries of course ;)
