after returning from vacation last week (which I still need to blog about), we decided to keep a pretty low profile for the holiday weekend. and since it was over 100 degrees friday and saturday, we tried to spend more time indoors than out… plus, all the rookies are out and about making for dangerous roadways and waterways – more on this later!
josh had to work on friday (BOOOO!!), so drew and i played around the house, and then in between naps went for a quick dip in the neighborhood pool. it was refreshing, but very crowded. we lasted about an hour, which i thought was pretty good considering it was just the two of us….which only proved challenging when i had to go to the ladies room?! but anyway, i’ve been totally obsessed with vanilla soft serve lately (and so is drew), so we detoured to mcdonald’s on the way home for an ice cream cone….yum yum!!
another scorcher on saturday, so we played indoors, took another long nap and then got ready for date night. drew went to visit aunt D and uncle T, and josh and i went for dinner and a movie. transformers 2 was good but L-O-N-G, and by the time we got out of the theater most of the restaurants in southlake town square were already closed?! weird since it was only 8:30pm, but i guess they closed early for the holiday. slim pickens, so cheesecake factory it was. ugh, we ate wwwwaaaayyyy too much and didn’t even get to the cheesecake!
a nice rainy sunday morning!!! and drew slept in, which i was totally THRILLED about. except i woke up thinking something had to be wrong, since i hadn’t heard a peep from him and it was 8am. yeah, 8am is sleeping in around here!! the rain really cooled things off, which was nice for our pool day at dad’s. we grilled brats and lounged in the pool. all and all it was a nice relaxing weekend, as we prepare for a very busy month.
