there is this little old house near us that has been converted into a toy store. i’ve driven by several times, intrigued by their adorable logo and compelling tagline , “if we don’t have it, we can find it.”
drew’s quickly transitioning out of his baby toys, so i’ve been looking for more age appropriate toys and thought they would have some unique stuff we wouldn’t find at target or walmart. so, after i picked him up from school today, we went to see what they had to offer.
i opened the door of the little old house and walked into a sea of stuffed animals and webkins. we made the round in about 2.5 seconds and then this lady emerged from a closet to ask if we were looking for anything in particular.
i just told her i was looking for some toys for him and didn’t realize they only had stuff animals. apparently that was completely offensive to her and she said, “aren’t these toy?” then proceeded to correct me with air quotes and said, “technically bean bag toys are the politically correct term.”
<SPEECHLESS>
After she showed me their selection of baby “bean bag toys” (stuffed animals with a rattle) and told me they had thousands of species to choose from, we VERY quickly exited the building…
and went to walmart to get the boy a TOY!
