think power shopping (fun!) for a rental home (not so fun!)…
on wednesday, josh and i had a list of about 20 homes to drive by for pre-qualifying based on neighborhood and exterior conditions. four bedrooms was really our only other prerequisite and those seem to be hard to come by in abilene? below are the three homes we narrowed it down to for a walk thru.
BRIDLE PATH (down the wrong path!)
PROs: nice kitchen and hardwood floors throughout 1st floor.
CONS: all bedrooms are VERY small and on the 2nd floor, very small backyard, josh wouldn’t fit in the master bath shower and the front door practically hits the stair case in the entry way. no space for a home office.
LOST TREE (literally lost in the trees?!)
PROs: large, open kitchen with new appliances and tile throughout the 1st floor. corner lot, so it has a huge backyard with covered patio. large master bedroom with patio.
CONs: all bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. no space for a home office.
SADDLE LAKES (saddle up, here we come!)
PROs: newer construction, sits on 1/2 acre lot, open floor plan, all bedrooms downstairs with a game room up. playground in the backyard. actually for sale, but the homeowner is willing to lease. study downstairs for my home office and it’s wired for an alarm.
CONs: more than we were hoping to spend (of course)!
drew’s favorite was saddle lakes, so we made an offer and the homeowner (an Air Force fly boy) has accepted. now we are going through the application process and still negotiating a move-in date. our keller house will be listed by next week, so i’m really hoping we have a renter by the end of the month.
here are more pictures from saddle lakes. anybody up for a packing party?

We can pack up a party - oh, wait, that is not exactly what you meant. :) Great selection.
